Michael Moore is funny, says, "what would you do if you got a call 9 o'clock at night asking "DO YOU SUPPORT THE PRESIDENT!", and he responds by saying the poor folks in Nebraska or wherever would tend to say, "Uhhh, sure, fine, he's great, just don't arrest me, ok?!"

A humorous exaggeration, but there may an effect there, depending on exactly what was asked.
Good Americans support their government in time of threat.
That's good.
But as General Butler said, it can, and has been in the past, exploited for personal gain of those in power, to manipulate the people into paying taxes and being robots.

Yes, well, as the Right knows, if you want peace, just remember:"War is Peace". Which is what we've just been prepared for, in this forever-war... You really want a forever-war? Use nukes. Piss off everyone you can think of. Etc.

In some cases the hypocrisy you mention is absolute. The way to determine that is to ask the question of where does your money come from?:

Do you get income, directly or indirectly, from government?
From this administration? From Bush Inc.'s partners?

If the answer is truly "No", then I can trust the respondent to be speaking from ideology, or logic, either of which can be flawed but at least isn't bought off.

In those cases where ideology fails to explain the position there certainly seems to be a frustration of being out of power, and an overwhelming sense of entitlement (also, unfortunately, fueled by the salivating Beltway Parasites eager to cash in on those trillions.)

My own frustration and possible bias isn't from being out of power, since I never felt anyone in office represented reasonable citizen views, anyway.
I've been outraged at Republican shoving garbage into the media incessantly in the last administration, and the passive, sheeplike acceptance of the right wing of the all-powerful secrecy-loving government in this administration.
You can only get that kind of passivity on the Right in war.
If the war ever ends, they'll get pissed off enough to actually do something instead of mumble about tariffs and Ashcroft.
For this reason, it is clearly imperative that the war never end. Not likely, if we decide we're warring against "Evil"...

Also, the conscious effort to create divisiveness, to cloud the issues with name-calling is same-old same-old, but irritating, and likewise seems to be followed by many on this thread and similar in the media.
