I believe they had low overall yields and specifically low bin split yields to 233 MHz. However, they never lined up any big customers, so the low yields probably only had a small effect on their shipments.

Remember - AMD stated that they were "sold out for Q3 and most of Q4" - this was mentioned in a Salomon conference call with Erika Klauer.

This probably meant that AMD was limited by what they could produce (yield limited) rather than by any great customer demand. After all, how many K6 devices can CyberSmash, Frogleap and Pulaski Computers use?
