RE:"Oh yeah. Nixon was a real good, credible guy."

1) maybe not in public but probably more with his close entourage. No surprise that Bush want to stop access to this type of historic information. Anyway, for a Canadian observer I should not have been stigmatize as a racist to allude to those revelations. The post was intended to be sarcastic mostly addressed against NG & tcmay, and on the fly, basically saying that on our TV and press, no cease-fire was perceived at all. It was a reply to someone saying cease-fire was a fait accompli.

2) I already retracted and duly apologize, to no avail, specially that I was concerned about the craziness unfolding on the MOD tread.

3) the main plea in my reply to TED was that it was not ant-American nether.

RE:"If I asked 500,000 people what 2+2 equals, I'd probably find over 272 that would tell me it didn't equal 4."

Under certain circumstance, 272 refusniks is a lot for a debut and again, the basic of my sentence is they are way courageous to front the horde.

And most of those 500,000 don’t know the dark side of the truth:

The Israeli public is dumbfounded by this terrible phenomenon. It cannot understand it, because it does not know (and perhaps does not want to know) what has happened in the Palestinian towns and villages. Only feeble echoes of what really happened have reached it. The obedient media suppress the information, or water it down so that the monster looks like a harmless pet. The television, which is now subject to Soviet-style censorship, does not tell its viewers what is going on. If somebody is allowed to say a few words about it, for the sake of "balance", the words are drowned in a sea of chatter by politicians, commentators acting as unofficial spokespersons and the generals who caused the havoc.
