I have "questions" regarding Market Share.

I assume that market share data is calculated when AMD and Intel ship a uP. This could lead to "channel stuffing", an allegation an Analyst made to Intel about a year ago. That is the way marketshare is calculated (I think). But, do Ford, GM, etc. calculate their marketshare by the number of cars "shipped" to their dealers? I don't think so.

I don't believe that's true. Since both intel and AMD have guaranteed price protection for distributors, Intel, and AMD only count it as a sale when the Distributor sells it. In that way, if a distributor returns parts for whatever reason, it doesn't skew the numbers.

Channel stuffing can occur, but that would seem more likely to depress prices in order to move the additional inventory, rather than changing Market Share. Whether that additional inventory would affect Market Share, would probably depend on how much of it the Distributor could sell, vs. how much they would try to dump back on the Suppliers Intel/AMD.
