"The only problem with all the new findings in paleontology (sp?) is that almost everything I learned in school is now proved wrong, and all those exciting diroramas they had in the natural history museums we were taken to on school trips are invalidated."

The problem is that teachers like X present ideas and theories in a dogmatic consensual way, any scientist would tell you the fossil record is incomplete. Global warming is another bugaboo where humans are being blamed for affecting the temperature of the planet. We probably are affecting the temperature of the planet but it really makes no difference if we push the envelope forward or backward a hundred years when we are heading to an ice age no matter what we do.

If X was a conscientious person she would be teaching her class about capitalism and researching the types of industry and technology that will profit the most during global warming. That way her little charges could at least take care of themselves and not wind up on welfare.
