Apparently, your definition of who's a 'REAL WORLD EXPERT' hinges upon who gave a campaign contribution....

As to your question of who 'someone SHOULD go to if they are attempting to formulate adequate energy policy for the present and future', I would start out by expecting that various economic and political interests would be representing their OWN - not the public's - views... and that they would mostly be pitching positions favorable to their OWN financial aggrandizement....

Knowing this, I would seek out a wide range of policy options... from a wide range of (often opposed) interests. Not just views from the petro/coal/nuclear complex.

From the open clash of ideas, let the truth emerge.

I would then formulate the most effective policy I could, taking useful ideas from where ever they came... regardless of their campaign contribution potential.
