More than likely it's the server Intel developed to be NEBS compatible, for the telcom industry. What that is comprised of is an environmentally super-strong server that can survive fires, large amounts of shock in drop tests, etc. Telcom has one of the highest sets of reliability requirements of any application in the world, hence requiring these NEBS qualified servers. When Intel announced these servers last year, I saw it as another way for Intel to go after Sun business. Obviously, IBM feels the same way.

........A basic x343 server will include a pair of 1.26GHz Pentium III chips from Intel, 2GB of RAM, a 36GB SCSI hard drive and redundant power supplies. The server goes on sale at the end of April.
Doesn't sound like you get much for the 10 grand, at least nowadays. Reason is the "Schwarzenegger" approach to building these, or, they would need to survive a Schwarzenegger movie!
