Insanity (one definition) is expecting different results from identical behavior. We have tried "punishing" people into submission. It doesn't work. Most of these kids are busted for drugs anyway and don't become VIOLENT offenders until after one incarceration (see War on Drugs in previous post).

I'm not for doing the same thing over and over and over again and expecting different results - to me that's nuts. We lock up a larger percentage of our population than any other 1st World country. Sorry, I vote DOWN prison bonds and FOR school bonds. How do you balance the budget on the backs of the poor (if that is even possible) when the majority of wealth resides in the top 10%?

I'm for people paying the TRUE costs of their operations. If you open a foundry and leave a toxic waste pit behind, the money "saved" by not cleaning up your mess is NOT yours in the first place. I don't see "taking it back" is a problem since it was wrongfully acquired in the first place.

While your arguments are not economically sound or logical, Lazarus, I don't doubt that you hold them strongly.
