Yet one more time: the authors of that book are members of a political fringe organization run by Lyndon LaRouche. Most of it misrepresents the facts. The principal facts are these: Bush was a junior director in a firm run by one of the Harriman Bros. that did business with a businessman who supported the Nazis early on, but broke with them after he realized how serious their anti- Jewish and anti- Catholic tendencies were, in 1935. He lost most of his assets, which were acquired by his siblings, and ended up in the United States, speaking out against Hitler. The Harriman firm continued to do business with the siblings. In 1942, a business deal they were involved in ran afoul of the recently enacted Trading with the Enemy Act, not because they were doing business with Hitler, but because they were doing business with persons with German citizenship. Assets pertaining to the specific deal were seized, but there was no criminal action, and no further civil action. In sum, it is a crock......
