The US can survive without the world because of the way it works. GDP and GNP are totally different things, look that up to see how it works. The US is putting restrictions now on European capatilists from benefiting from the US expansion, not sure how far that will go. but it will benefit US capatalists at the expense of the rest of the world, which is why I doubt the US markets will go down.
The trust can not be repaired without a lot of sacriface by the US, the paid for press has been bombing propaganda for a while now. And why should the US make any concessions when it rejects anything determintal to itself and does what ever it pleases?
I am not sure you can have corruption in a capitalistic society.. You cant fix Enron, not by a long shot! But a lot more than enron needs fixing, you can cover up enron thats about it! I left the US because I just walked around in a daze unable to understand how people could ignore things. To me anything that happens to someone else COULD happen to me. Both good and bad. But no one ever seemed intrested in ever doing anything about the bad. Maybe all the ones who wanted to do something are in jail.

I suppose the main question to ask is, when you get up in the morning and look in the mirror do you like what you see? Ofcourse not knowing anything thats happening outside will make it easier to not think about it. But the amount of suffering that the US causes so its multi nationals can make money is astonishing. I started looking at the recent events and ended up quite deep into what was happening around the world and most of it made me sick. The worst of it is that the main stream press has been practicing censor ship on a scale that cant be nothing other than pure propaganda (no country is better in that respect either but none of them have such a wide audience). I have been staying away trying to keep out of trouble because I am not sure how I should accept things, except in one forum :) which I got banned from.. Guess its better to not know history and what the furture can bring if we dont change it.
Some intresting sites, mostly from a peoples perspective than churned mass propaganda, not all true but a lot truer than what I can get from CNN.. The difference is a news item I read, The mainstreem media ALL said the US attacked 3 jeeps leaving an al-queda compound and killed all occupants as being al-queda members and then attacked the compound.
The reality was one of the leaders of the tribe was an arab supporter not combatant, because they gave him a lot of money for food and information, The US already came and took him away. The average people went to make a sacriface adn pray to get him back from the americans since he spent a lot of money he got there and 2 of the jeeps were bombed, the third I guess didnt know and while they were sacrificing the goat at the altar, an AC-130 gunned them down. Killing almost 30 people, half of them women and children and the rest just average villagers none of them arabs or queda or anything else, just poor villagers who thought 100 bucks is a fortune and its better than starving to death.

None of this is confined to the US alone.. Its only that because of the might and power of the US its magnified many folds And its effects are felt everywhere. Seems facisim is in style these days.. Every country is on the path to it just that some are further along than others.
Oh one note.. Even with such massive propaganda and dis-information and rewritting of history etc.. I am so very amazed that a lot of people around the world do actually know whats going on. And its not because of the internet either.. They know how to connect the dots rather than beliving everything they read or hear.... Not that they can do much and aint afraid..
