Now what do you suggest as an alternative?

Well, we support libertarian GOP candidates in the primaries so we have a better choice come election day. We respond to polls, write letters, support think tanks, all that sort of thing. And a lot of the time we still have to hold our noses.

I won't argue that in voting Republican,you are often forced to choose social conservatism with economic conservatism. I pick that over the common Dem combination: social liberalism with economic insanity.

I understand that. Faced with a social or paleoconservative, I vote Democrat or don't vote. I think the lefties have already done most of the damage they're going to. The social righties still have a lot on their agendas and are more hungry so I figure they are the more dangerous. Lousy choice either way. The Democrats tend to be moderate in my neighborhood. This is a GOP state so they can't reach too far.
