Re: ALYD and Government Contracts

I think we all agree that we're not going to wake up one day and see a press release that says "(Y2K company name here) announces a multi-billion dollar deal with the US Government to remediate all its Y2K computer code." I also doubt we'll even see that, for example, the entire Department of Defense has chosen a single vendor for all of its software.

I must confess I really haven't kept up with the government side of things, but, correct me it I'm wrong, my understanding is that these things have to be budgeted for well in advance. Therefore, I also presume we, as taxpayers (via the OMB), would know how much is being allocated and by/for whom-- which means 1998 at the earliest. Then the contracts would have to be put to a competitive bid and then (insert favorite bureaucrat joke here).

Despite my cynicism, ALYD does have a government expert on the Board of Directors, Alex McMillan: biz.yahoo.com
and a government-based alliance: biz.yahoo.com

I have not talked to Alex about ALYD's strategy for securing government contracts, but I will try to get a hold of him tomorrow.
