Red Hat Linux 7.2.92 skipjack

I have looked at this release, using the KDE 3 user interface, and it looks very nice:

- Much improved user interface with animated icons and other stuff that impresses some people.
- Improved speed.
- Most font issues known from current Linux releases seem to have vanished (font aliasing system has been redesigned)
- New: A project tool a la Microsoft Project.
- New: GUI Web development environment (quanta)
- New: Outlook clone "Evolution", which can connect to an MS Exchange server.
- New: Translation tool. Currently only supports between English and German.
- New: Many multimedia tools.
- Konqueror, the Windows Explorer equivalent, now also supports sftp (Secure FTP, SSH) as a file system, making file transfers via the unsecure internet very, very easy. It also includes lots of new tools, including translation tool, image HTML gallery tool,
- Improved printing system: pdf writing has a much improved GUI, CUPS support etc.
- KOffice gets more import/export filters and thereby starts to be interoperable with other office suites.
- Almost all programs are in newer versions with more functionality.
- Gnome programs and KDE programs begin to mix in the start menu more than Red Hat has ever done before.
- This beta was on 5 CDs. Two and a half CDs for installation and 2 extra with source code for those interested. I believe the final release would be 6-10 CDs including powertools etc.

To me, it seems that this is a beta to a Red Hat Linux 7.3 release, especially because installation program and Red Hat tools look pretty much like they did in Red Hat Linux 7.2.

Dybdahl.
