While the yields are very good so far, overall production cannot begin to meet the demand the channel will place on the new Athlon XP processors. AMD will introduce the Thoroughbred in a step by step process until AMD feels that it is at a place to adequately fill the channel with desktop T-breds. What a pile of crap. If it is just that demand is too strong then AMD should intro them at a high price and improve their ASPs from the early adoptions while ramping production as quickly as possible. I hate to admit it but it looks to me like only technical problems can explain this foot-dragging re Thoroughbred introduction, whether that be yield problems or some kind of instability at higher speeds.
