I think the author is still trying to decide if she wants to be Fran Leibowitz, Hunter Thompson, or Harlan Ellison when she grows up. There were some apercus, most notably that "The Royal Tannenbaums" got screwed, and that there is something damning in the fact that this late in the game the Academy has to be so self- conscious about awarding top honors to persons of color. Otherwise, one wants to ask, "have you ever watched the Oscars before"? This is not exactly the first time that the Academy Awards show reveled in Tinsel, or gave a deserving actor a "make up" Oscar for overlooking him in better films. Yet she says that she had never questioned the Oscars before, which argue either extreme youth, over- medication in previous years, or a lack of cranial wattage.......
