Web, I agree. Remember the 80s when "DEC had it all". With DG right behind them. Wang had already missed their boat. But the mini market was going to supercede all others. Finally CPQ stepped in to bail out DEC getting their services business but also getting saddled with DEC's install base and support issues. That didn't work so now HP is going to bail out CPQ. Who is going to bail out HP three years from now after poor Walter Hewlett is significantly poorer? Probably some resurrected Telecom who needs a printer line at the end of their bandwidth.
There is no substitute for running your existing business as a world-class enterprise. If you can't adding to the problem fixes nothing.
