>I see no difference in the level of violence between the poor of Palestine and other countries. The only difference is that the Palestinians bring the war to their enemy through the suicide bombers.

Bingo. They're not worse than the other murderous cultures. That's not what I'm trying to say. The point is that they're different than the others. These are people who believe that it's more important to die killing the enemy than to live. They rejoice when their own die. Couple that with the hatred towards certain other groups of people, and you end up with a difficult, perhaps endless terrible scenario.

>First, I see no relationship between the kamakaze pilots and suicide bombers. The pilots were fed a steady diet of drugs [I think amphetamines] so that they were hyped and ready to do anything if they got into trouble.

The kamikazes were the closest match I could think of to the current shahids. I can't claim that they're close.

>As for the Koran, I have not read it. However, others have claimed that the Moslem religion is neither a violent nor hateful one. Now you come along and say that is not true. Are their passages you can cite that support your view so I can look at them?

Yick... I loaned it to someone the day after I finished reading it in December and I haven't seen it since- nuts, I saw her all weekend and she went back to school (I don't even think she even ended up reading it)... but now that you've reminded me, I just E-mailed her. I work with her mother, so I should get it soon.

I'd actually recommend that you do some reading yourself. It's not that long, and it's not that hard to find such passages. I have the Penguin translation, I believe. It was about forty bucks at Borders.

In the event that I get it back soon, I'll be happy to quote a bit.

>In any case, let me say this.......I think exterminating a people to get a rid of a perceived problem is the ultimate hate crime. I hope that you were exaggerating your feelings on the subject in your comments above........frankly, one holocaust every 100 years is more than enough

Where did I advocate exterminating a people? There's a difference between exterminating a people and knocking some much-needed sense into them. If some have to die for it, then so be it. That's what war is about. I don't think that civilians should be harmed on purpose, but anyone planning attacks should be taken out, and any of the leaders that support them should be taken out as well.
