Z, I've heard someone in my church (someone who is a missionary and teaches at Western Seminary here in Portland) say that the Koran is literally split into two sections. The first section was when the prophet was ready to spread his message to the Jews and the Christians at the time. The second section was when his audience basically rejected his message, and he reacted with his anti-Jew and anti-Christian statements.

If that's the case, then it sounds like the liberalist interpretation focuses in on the first section but not the second. That sounds like typical post-modernism that plagues colleges these days. I'm all for modern theology, but post-modern B.S. will never stand on its own.
