A brief list of recent company changes (end of day) in the Dow :

June 29, 1979 IBM and Merck added. Chrysler and Esmark dropped.

Aug. 30, 1982 American Express Co. replaced Manville Corp.

July 2, 1984 Standard Oil (Calif.) name changed to Chevron.

Sept. 19, 1985 Allied Corp. name changed to Allied-Signal Inc.

Oct. 30, 1985 Philip Morris Cos. and McDonald's Corp. added.
General Foods Corp. and American Brands Inc. dropped.

Feb. 20, 1986 International Harvester name changed to Navistar
International Corp.

July 8, 1986 U.S. Steel name changed to USX Corp.

March 11, 1987 Inco and Owens-Illinois dropped. Coca-Cola and
Boeing added.

April 29, 1987 American Can Co. name change to Primerica.

Dec. 16, 1988 Primerica Corp. (old) merged into Commercial Credit
Group Inc which adopted Primerica Corp.'s name.

May 3, 1991. Caterpillar Inc., Walt Disney Co. and J.P.Morgan were
added and Navistar International Corp., USX
Corp. and Primerica Corp. were dropped.

March 14, 1997. Hewlett-Packard Co., Johnson & Johnson, Travelers
Group Inc. and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. were added and
Bethlehem Steel Corp., Texaco Inc., Westinghouse Electric Corp. and
Woolworth Corp. were dropped.

November 1, 1999: The following companies are being added to the 30
stocks: The Home Depot, Inc. (NYSE:HD); Intel Corp.
(NASDAQ:INTC); Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT); and SBC Communications Inc.
(NYSE:SBC). The following companies are being
dropped: Chevron Corp. (NYSE:CHV); Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. (NYSE: GT);
Sears, Roebuck & Co. (NYSE: S); and Union Carbide
Corp. (NYSE: UK).
