Pacific Exchange Files To Trade Emerging Growth Idx Options

SAN FRANCISCO--The Pacific Exchange filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission to trade options on the Morgan Stanley Emerging Growth Index under symbol "EGI."

In a press release Tuesday, the exchange said the EGI index is a broad-based, capitalization-weighted average of 50 stocks designed by Morgan Stanley. The index's base value was set at 300 on Feb. 7.

The trading on the options is expected to begin late summer.

Companies included in the index are Altera Corp. (ALTR), American Power Conversion Corp. (APCC), Apac Teleservices Inc. (APAC), Ascend Communications Inc. (ASND), Aspect Telecommunications Corp. Was this what kicked APCC in the pants today? Noticed we had pretty good volume. I'd like to think we made a reversal and it's up from here for the near term at least. Not all dogs are ugly, btw! <g>
