I am getting more confused about that silly little Fiat every day!! Now I find out that it has very few miles on a rebuilt engine, and that the owner drove it everywhere and had a lot of fun in it. Don't forget the beautiful new paint job, either--it really is fresh and in wonderful condition cosmetically. It is a beautiful car, and I have sort of a thing for red leather. Well, quite a thing, really. It feels good just to look at it and fondle it. (I think maybe I should go to the head doctor!)

I also got a little more information about what is wrong with it. Somehow the thingy that makes the steering wheel steer the car--the one that connects with the axle--broke on the right front. It just stopped steering; there is no way to guide the car. The owner thinks maybe it just needs welding. Since it has never been in any accidents, I have to believe it is basically structurally very sound.

I understand what you're saying about accidents. I would not want to be flat-topped in my Fiat!!! But the car is free, and there is no real security in life, anyway. I don't want to be led by timidity.

I'm sure the other cars you recommend are great, and safer. The Mercedes SL I love, especially. But I wasn't really out shopping for a sports car--this one just fell my way. And after the damage I have done to my puny net worth by choosing all those horrible stocks, I will be in a wheelchair before I could afford a Mercedes!

Thanks for all your help, Alex.
