Frankly, investing in gold is of interest only to those who don't recognize the value of genius to invent new products."

Give me a break, Art The fact is inventing new stuff is not the issue, during the 1920's the inovations were way more substantial. Telephones, Auto's, Airplanes. The advancement in the late 1800's and early 1900's make todays Internet age look tepid in comparison. The issue then and now is VALUATION, and INVESTING vs SPECULATING. Inventing new products wont help your portfolio if valuations contract. This is an investement forum, therfore GOLD is a valid issue. Frankly I am sick of every techno geek insisting Gold is a relic as SA, Japenese and ME'ners are buying it in panic mode to safe guard their wealth. Discusing or investing a % of ones portfolio's in gold is not only prudent but profitable.
