RON, I don't really know what caused the sick silliness of today. There seem to be too many extremes on all sides. As you say, liberals used to be a little to the left, but now they so near the extreme left, that it is almost the same as socialist. I am a conservative, but when I became one, there was no fanatical side to it. The conservative movement I joined in 1960 promoted patriotism, rugged individualism, a strong military to protect the freedoms we enjoyed, and provide a climate for industry to grow and prosper in order to provide jobs, and add to the tax base. The global conglomerates of today were not envisioned back then.
We are almost at the level of the "Brave New World", and that scares me. This political correctness in a futile attempt to please every one, and not step on anyone's toes. That is an impossibility, and takes up too much time that could be spent on far better projects. I fear that there is no answer that will come in time. I pray otherwise. |
