I didn't suggest Israel should do anything; as allies opposed to terrorism, I think it's time that we draw a line that's irrevocably clear.

Arafat has crossed the line too many times and is more emboldened than ever. An action by the US would be unexpected and would let him know there's not gonna be anymore pussyfooting around.

Playing the mediator role has been a fruitless task that does not even convince the Arabs of our even-handedness. So who is the show for anymore? What is wrong with saying terrorism is terrorism and acting to dismantle the terrorist infrastructure?

After viewing, in the Kissinger article, what the various ME entities wield, it is clear that Syria - previously supplied by the USSR, poses a threat as much as Iran and Iraq. Should we be able to establish an alliance with Russia to cut off such supplies, pursue an aggressive dismantling of the terrorist org infrastructures, and stand ready to - as Bush once claimed - go after those who harbor terrorists... with clear warnings to Iran, Iraq and Syria to stand down... I think they'd have to seriously rethink the threat we pose.

Syria and Iraq cannot re-supply themselves, and if they get the picture that the Cold War paradigm of playing Russia against us is no longer viable, and that our tolerance for terrorism is nil, they'll be down to two options: stand down, or stand ready for what the allied forces can deliver.
