re: New Japan Radio (6911.J) - UPDATE
Well this is an exciting time for this mid sized maker of semiconductors, compound semiconductor devices and linear/analog ICs - listed on the second section of the TSE
It pretty much held on its own, resting around 650 Yen. Yesterday, another STRONG BUY was issued - we now gut 2x Strong Buy, 1x Buy, 1x Hold: biz.yahoo.co.jp
Valuations still a huge discount to market: Price/Sales around 0.40, Price/Book 1.8 : profiles.wisi.com
I recently contacted NJR on their research efforts. Looks pretty good I'd say. They are developing InP capabilities plus they are getting into SiC for high power/ high voltage applications. This could become an EMKR, AXTI, MSCC, CREE lookalike..
Here are their answers in plain-text: 1) We are now developing compound-semiconductor products such as GaAs HBTs, HJFETs, and E/D-mode MESFETs, which meet the operational requirements such as high speed and high precision, and the physical sophistication such as high density and high complexity. We are also making an aggressive research into InGaP HBTs which may be used in power amplification MMICs for transmitters.
2) Regarding power-processing components, we are making researches into SiC devices under the sponsorship of the Japanese National Institute of Technological Research and Development, which are expected to serve as super-high output and super-high speed elements available for future applications. Our target here is to apply such advanced devices to satellite communications and satellite broadcastings.
