Ah well Nickle - where ignorance is bliss tis folly to be wise? In Canada people sell immediately on exercising options - or usually do so - because the gain is taxed as income. The tax rules may have changed, there was a proposal to do so, but traditionally people exercise and sell immediately - the press are as ignorant as you and report massive earnings of executives and in this figure always include the taxable benefit from exercised options.
