That is a good article (and true) except for two things.

First, the word "pedophilia" is repeated over and over again to describe what happened in the Church. The APA definition makes clear that pedophilia refers to abuse of pre-pubescent children. Indeed, the article refers to the victims over and over again as "children". This is NOT what happened in the overwhelming majority of cases that have come to light. The victims have overwhelmingly not been pre-pubescent children, but rather young teenage boys, typically 14 or 15 years of age. Few boys of that age would want to be called "children," and "pedophilia" does not apply to them.

Secondly, the article never once mentions that the accused priests have been, virtually without exception, homosexual men.

The core of the problem in the Catholic Church scandal has involved homosexual priests molesting teenage boys.

A reader of this article in the New York Times would come away with some valuable insights into pedophilia ... but with no clear picture of what actually has been happening in the Church.
