Oh brother. Here we go again with the synthetic leases. Every large company in the U.S. uses this form of off-balance sheet financing. It's so common that anyone who has ever done financial statment analysis knows to look for it. Airlines are notorious for their use of leases to get the debt from purchasing all those planes, off the books. Anyway, this is an alarmist article and is a little shallow.
