Hard to believe a heterosexual with a strong sex drive would become a priest.

A 12 or 15 year boy is often more physically attractive than a 45 or 55 year old man. Or one older. The American priesthood is aging.

It's also often safer to take on a young person. They may be intimidated enough by the authority of a priest not to report the incident.
