You have a negative mindset, Jay. I think because you are a creature of your culture, as we all are. The possibilities for maneuvering and manipulation are just so much more...interesting...when disaster hangs in the air. "Loot the burning house," as you have said. Over here we call the Fire Department (Uncle Al) and try to rescue our neighbor's family photographs and pets (401ks).

You and I can both remember the economic landscape in 1990 and 1991, unlike a good majority of the other guests at this little frat party. We had a pretty good real estate crash in parts of the US, particularly the Northeast, the Japanese were kicking US economic butt at every turn, the economy was in recession and the doom and desperation in the air was palpable. The Depression talk back then was way worse than now, and with far more reason. Just as there was no Crash and Depression then, there will be none now.
