Just for amusement, Nadine, who would the "several" pro-Palestinian commentators at the dreaded "liberal" NYT be? Or would the NYT not count as "left of center"?

Friedman and Safire hog much of the Mideast coverage at the Times so I really can't think of anyone else there. (unless you count the op-eds space they give to Henry Siegman and Yasser Arafat) I was thinking more of someone like H.Greenway at the Boston Globe, whose comments are always of the If-only-those-stupid-Israelis-would-just-withdraw-to-the-1967-border-that-would-solve-everything-because-that's-all-the-poor-Palestinians-want stripe. (Friedman at least has noticed who Arafat is)

I don't know. Perhaps the author would consider this insufficiently pro-Palestinian to count?

Also, I have noticed that American sources are importing Englishmen for their pro-Palestinian converage. The other morning I heard Robert Fisk, that buffoon, indignantly deny the assertion that neighboring Arab states derived any benefit from the Israeli/Palestinian coverage, and then he added for good measure that YOU (meaning the US) are responsible for all the bad Arab regimes, anyway.

Of course, Fisk has got us coming and going. If we work with Arab regimes, that's supporting them and we're responsible for their bad behavor. Bad. If we pressure them to reform, that's bullying and colonialism. Bad. If we overthrow any of them (like Saddam), that's imperialism. Bad.
