Holy Days in the Holyland: 2002 Jerusalem in late March, the weather warm and soft. Christians shopping in preparation for their Easter feast, the smudge of ash still visible on their foreheads. Jews shopping for Seder ingredients: the bitter horseradish root, apples and nuts for harosis, the mortar which binds. A flash, a scream, more death.
