Hi Wolf,

Here is an interesting article at USAToday:

usatoday.com

Drug spending up 17%. Especially those to lower cholesterol, depression and ease of arthritis pain. Also significant is that consumer spending of prescription drugs has doubled since 1997 from U$78.9 billion to U$154.5 billion. The increase in spending resulted from:

1. Increased use of prescriptions from 2.9 billion to 3.1
billion.

2. Price increases. Average price per prescription rose 10
percent to $49.84.

3. Patients switching from older drugs to newer drugs,
costlier ones.

Take care,

Tom
