Elmer, do you know how they took the P4 down to 131.4 mm², from 145 or 146? Serious on this one. This is like an "asynchronous" die shrink isn't it?

Yes, this is a mid course shrink and is common. When they have the process running smoothly they can tighten the design rules and shrink the die size. This is another confirmation that their .13u process is very healthy and they have a lot of confidence in it. It's possible we may see another die size reduction before the transition to 90nm but that's just a maybe.
