Yes, this is a mid course shrink and is common. When they have the process running smoothly they can tighten the design rules and shrink the die size. This is another confirmation that their .13u process is very healthy and they have a lot of confidence in it. It's possible we may see another die size reduction before the transition to 90nm but that's just a maybe.

Thanks for the info. P4 and 0.13 do sound healthy. Keep us posted on another possible shrink, if you can. Sounds like the AMDroids are in need of shrinks themselves the way things are going:

- MIA T-Bred

- Hammer now 15% better than Athlon at the same clock speed. That's almost down to a bigger cache boost and another couple of other relatively minor boosts.
