Goldman Sachs may face bond-related SEC charge-WSJ

NEW YORK, March 29 (Reuters) - Goldman Sachs (GS - news) was informed by the Securities and Exchange Commission it could face charges of securities fraud in connection with information it received about the U.S. Treasury's plan to stop selling 30-year bonds before the news was publicly disclosed, The Wall Street Journal said on Friday.

Goldman has been told it will soon receive a notice from the SEC that the agency plans to recommend filing the civil charges about the Treasury leak, according to the newspaper.

Once the notice is filed, Goldman will have the opportunity to present its case as to why it shouldn't be charged.

Shares of Goldman closed at $90.25 on the New York Stock Exchange on Thursday.
