If I remember SpatiaLight (SLHT) correctly, they are making small, high-resolution, reflective LCDs on silicon substrates. By working in silicon, they can keep the costs down and yields up. But the power numbers that I have heard quoted don't make sense to me. It was something like 30W/cm^2 disipated in the silicon. That would require massive heatsinks and forced air cooling. And probably still wouldn't keep the LCD cool enough.

If you know more about SpatiaLight, please tell us. The numbers and description I've seen didn't make much sense.
