Fujitsu and JDS Uniphase sign sourcing pact
Semiconductor Business News (03/29/02, 07:53:32 PM EST) SAN JOSE -- Fujitsu Quantum Devices Ltd., Fujitsu Compound Semiconductor Inc., and JDS Uniphase Corp. announced a multi-source agreement (MSA) for the development of 40-gigabits-per-second devices.
The companies will develop PIN receivers with differential coplanar outputs for use in 40-Gbps fiber-optic applications. The MSA receiver reduces board space, cancels common mode noise at the clock and data recovery (CDR) circuit, and doubles the output voltage swing, according to Fujitsu Compound.
San Jose-based Fujitsu Compound, part of Fujitsu Quantum Devices of Japan, develops compound semiconductor devices, based on gallium-arsenide process technologies.
The MSA receivers are compatible with advanced decision threshold techniques using differential monitor outputs, and threshold control inputs.
The MSA specifies the maximum receiver package outline, pin function definitions, and pin locations for single-mode fiber pigtailed, 40-Gbps PIN receiver modules. The flange mount package is approximately 24- x 38- x 7.4-mm in size. Sample products are expected to be available in June of 2002. |
