His monstrousness was in saying such a thing, when he believed it to be true, about a woman who was the friend of many of us, after she had died, and while we were feeling that death. He did it to hurt her surviving friends by his meanness and to feel gleeful superiority, which, due to his inferiority, he needs to seize every opportunity to claim. Heck, CL can tell me all day I'm going to hell and I'll just think he's a silly bugger.
