This isn't just for you, but the others as well... cause I sure would like to hear some honesty around here from you "don't care what happens, have no interest, but I'm here anyway" types. Cause something is sure on your minds that keeps you coming back.

No position should not be confused with disinterest.

Look at it this way. I find a promising company or sector in which I would like to invest, but I think it is priced too high. Perhaps this is a correction waiting to occur, or I am wrong. Either way my self interest is served by articulating my opinion and having an intelligent discussion on points of divergence with others.

For example, if it is a correction waiting to occur, then by staying abreast of public sentiment (which does drive stock price) I can gauge how near term this correction will occur. How deeply are these views held? On what foundations do they rest? Such basis-for-opinion questions can not be answered merely by lurking and viewing the opinion. One must ask "why".

If my opinion is in need of adjustment, then surely there will be some intelligent individual out there willing to discuss things rationally and help put me straight. Unfortunately, there is no shortage individuals more willing to engage in ad-hominem attacks than stick to the issue. But that's a cost-of-being-put-straight that needs a thick skin.

I find it amusing that so many people think that those with articulate but dim views must be some sort of short shill, hoping that by spreading negative information that somehow the stock price will be influenced down. Even if that truly was the game, only the dumbest manipulators on the planet would pick big-board stocks on which to ply a trade. Geez... Wall Street pumps billions of "it's cheap at twice the price" advertising into the market. At all prices. Only a moron would compete against such a machine.

So if you do find folk who appear to have a few neurons firing and also posting dim views, then it's probably likely they aren't trying to hype the stock down, more likely expressing a sincerely held opinion.

At the moment, my perspective on the telecom sector is far more aligned with elmat's than with yours. Although I take his descriptions of the future as allegorical rather than predictive.

But I am willing to be proven wrong in this view. At which time I will gladly profit.
