Perhaps the methods are the same, or at least analogous, but the goals and the agendas are vastly different for both sides of the dispute. Or all four side, I should say. They are of course Israel, the US, the Palestinians, and the non-Palestininan terrorists who have focused on the US.

While the Israeli-Palestinian war is of course important to the US's national interests, much more important to us is the war on terrorism fought against OBL and his ilk, who hope to use the Palestinian problem as a sideshow and a diversion to keep the focus away from them.

By the same token, I think that the Palestinian problem is itself a sideshow to OBL and his pals. His focus is clearly the US and its "defilement" of the Arabian Peninsula.

That's what I meant.

Clear headed American leadership should keep the distinctions in mind when formulating policy.
