Westi,
Happy Easter to you as well!!
Growing up, my parents did not hide our Easter baskets. A few years back when the children had gotten a little older, Mike and I started hiding our children's Easter Baskets. Last year we totally fooled them. When they got up in the morning their Easter baskets were still packed away, in the storage bin, exactly how they had been when we brought them down from the attic. The children figured that out after searching the house for awhile. I do not recall which one of them finally found them. I think we ended up playing the game with them, that you tell them if they are hot or cold based on their location to the item they are trying to find. What we had used for "baskets" was brightly decorated storage boxes, they were very fancy with the metal corner covers on them and hinged handles. We had bought them originally for storing photographs and negatives in. We all had fun with that one.
Well, this year just minutes ago, Mike and I finished filling the Easter baskets. I suggested Mike hide them, while I finished doing a few last minute bits of straightening up. Mike moaned and complained, that he did not know where to hide them. Suddenly I had a brain storm. I suggested we empty out the few items that are stored in the cedar chest in the hallway, and hide all the baskets in there. This chest often seems to be where coats land when the children come in the house. So after we hid the baskets, (we did use their real Easter baskets this year!!) we then put the coats back in their rightful spots, thrown on the cedar chest. Tomorrow morning should be interesting. Anyone care to guess how long it will take them to find the baskets?? Any suggestions as to how long we wait before we give in and tell them?? <smiles>
OH and by the way don't forget to make memories for your family that will live on long after the Easter baskets are put back into storage. Take plenty of pictures. <say cheese!!!> maybe tomorrow it might be more appropriate to say "Chocolate!!!"
I hope everyone has a joyous Easter!!
