Gordon: You've really been pushing the textbook story that you found on your right-wing Web site, but you have yet to answer my question:

Why are parents, many of whom are extremists both left and right, in a better position to decide curriculum/textbook selection than professional administrators and professional teachers?

Question No. 2: What is the current role of parents in the curriculum/textbook selection process? Does the public school closest to your residence have a site-based local school council? Do you even know?

I suspect this bill is being pushed so teachers aren't forced to teach "way-out" viewpoints. The state of Ohio, for instance, is currently caught up in a controversy whether a form of creationism MUST be taught in all science classes along with evolution.

You're reading much more into this than what is actually occurring.
