richy, Oddly enough, I agree with you, that there was a certain amount of evolution that happened, and is still happening. I do believe that God made man in His own image, but the soul of man is the image of God, not the body. The human body is, physiologically, that of an animal. IMO, when the Bible says that God breathes life in to man, He is breathing the essence of a soul into him.
There must have been other humanoids on the planet during the time of the garden of Eden, because Cain was banished for the murder of Abel to the land Nod, and took a wife, as is written in the Bible. I seriously doubt that he mated with an ape.
When I speak of God the Creator, I always say that I believe that He caused the universe, and everything in it to be created, but we cannot know for absolutely sure, just how it was done. After all, a minute on God's clock, can be thousands of years on the clock of mankind.
