Fallope:

IMHO, there is zero market for 40G products. If and when it happens, it will be in the LH and ULH segment, which for now, is dead. 2.5 and 10G will be the dominant markets for actives for some time to come, due to their dominance and/or increasing use in Enterprise and Metro applications. Unfortunately for us JDSU stock holders, these lower speed products are margin-challenged, due to severe competition stemming from low technology barriers. 2.5G was around ten years ago, and over that time has gone from something somewhat challenging in GaAs chips to something easy in Si-CMOS. The same thing will have to happen for 40G to take over, although it may be SiGe instead of straight Si.
