'marcos rather clearly takes a leftist stance on these matters.' - there you go again, geeez ... leftist compared to what? .
If I have time later (a lot on my plate today), I'll dig through your posts. You've trotted out every tired leftist slogan that could possibly be applied to this situation.

And Canada (and Mexico) already get special treatment compared to other nations because of NAFTA.

i know few people without relatives in the US for instance
And I know numerous people of Canadian origin down here. My mother was originally of Canadian citizenship. We go to Palm Springs several times each winter. Canada is the biggest supplier of snowbirds there.

Now let's set up a hypothetical situation:
A nation decides it wants to increase its imports into the US. So it picks an industry that already has a large trade with the US and provides it with tax money so it can lower its prices and take yet more market share, with the intention of eventually bankrupting the US industry and achieving a monopoly. The US companies notice their market evaporating, figure out what has happened, and cry foul to the US gov't. The US gov't slaps tariffs on the imports to bring their prices up to their previous level. The exporting nation screams and calls for an arbitration hearing under the trade treaty.

Your complaint seems to be about that second-to-last step an the necessity for the last one. To put it differently, you are objecting to due process.
