If you're into cheap keyboards like I've always been (until I recently got a Logitech cordless with dual pipes and hemi's) ..errr.. anyway, I've had that type of problem before, it is usually the result of a child pounding on the keys while playing a game;) You can pry the plastic cover off of the space bar and you will probably find that one end of the wire doohickee that is underneath the plastic cover has come loose from it's notch. It is not that difficult to finagle the wire back into it's proper place and pop the key cover back onto it's holders.

Sounds scary but it can't be that difficult if I've done it. You just stick a thin screwdriver or something under the plastic cover and give it a whack or leverage it until the cover pops loose.
