The world cant afford to allow a strategy based on suicide bombing to become successful.

Agreed. However, it has shown signs of success and it will undoubtedly be used more and more and on different fronts. Don't be surprised if such bombings begin to take place in the US.

What to do? Appeasement is out of the question for obvious reasons. The problem is that the only way to prevent such bombings, or at least minimize their scale, is to engage in things which are an anathema to our way of life.
