The thing is, when I asked for advice at the Computer Learning thread, somebody should have asked me, "Do you have another keyboard?" If they had, I'd have said, "Yes." Because I knew I did. I just somehow didn't realize that that keyboard was relevant to my problem. I couldn't conceive until Laz and others kept suggesting that it wasn't necessary for Gateway to be the keyboard provider and that I could just go and buy one, that I was free to walk into the next room and get the old one and plug it in. This was an egregious oversight on the part of the experts on Computer Learning, I feel.
