Rumsdell and GW are really gung-ho about Iraq and both having a "we will go it alone if need be" attitude.. Recommend you read long NewYorker article on this by Jeff Goldberg.
In GW's mind and Rumsdell's mind Iraq is far more armed and dangerous than they,Iraq, would have you believe.
One opinion i read was a list of all the reasons they shouldn't do this, finishing with "then they can,t can they?",and then saying but "but yes they could".
The U.S. is taking on an unilateral view and will go coalition or no coalition.At least that is attitude around and with GW, whether they maintain this attitude we will see.
But the bottomline, at this point, GW is rejecting all the "don't do this!" that is coming from various sources.
Also,Bush,sr., is also big on doing this, i suspect George Bush,sr. is haunted by his failure to finish the job and calling the stop of the run to Baghdad. |
